BMW 335i The scene was set in Barstow, CA - two hours from Los Angeles and another two from Vegas - more than 300 BMW owners converged on an overflowing parking lot in the desert but what the hell is this BMW 335i doing here? We were at M-Fest 3 and most M owners snarled at the sight of 23 year-old Nick Lakind's non-M sedan.

2010 BMW M10

2010 bmw m10 rendering

Do you know which are the best kept secrets among automakers? Their future top models! But you will say why do they still want to develop supercars if people are doing their best to find Eco, Blue and hybrid solutions? Well simple: because supercars is what keep a maker alive, and from the edge of the top models will also benefit the subordinate vehicle series.

And supercar will always have success, no matter how many restrictions there will be! Lets be serious now, if you had the money what would you buy: a Prius or an Enzo (or any other combination you prefer)?

Lets take BMW for example, they have already trademark the "M10" name for a future supercar that is supposed to be a replacement for the legendary BMW M1, built between 1978 and 1981.

The M1’s successor will be powered by a ten-cylinder twin turbo-charged engine and will feature direct fuel injection. The performance target: 625 hp and a top speed of 400 km/h!

BMW will also offer an entry-level version that will be powered by twin turbo a 4.4 liter V8 engine that delivers 450 hp.

The M1’s successor will debut in the next 24-36 months and will be priced between 150.000-300.000 euro depending on the engine.

2010 BMW 760 & 760Li with new V12 engine

The day after Mercedes unveiled the the redesigned S-Class with the V12 S600, BMW drops the new 760i and 760Li with a new twin-turbo V12 engine. No ,it’s not an engine actually! BMW has put an atomic bomb under the bonnet!

536 hp and 750 nm of torque is the outcome of the new engine linked to a 8-speed ZF transmission and it does about 18 MPG (nearly 14 liter per 100km/h) with Euro5 standards. The result if this much power is 0-100 sprint of 4.5 seconds in a car as heavy as Titanic!

The 760i is a big car itself but if you want more you can have the long wheelbase version, 760Li which is 5.5 inch (~14 cm) longer than the normal one, making the car 5.2 meters long. As you expect the 7-series is loaded with features, apart from the usual garnish you get with car some of the most advanced gadgets in the 760 include : Lane Change Warning, lane-departure warning, Active Cruise Control with stop-and-go function, Night Vision with detection of individual persons, a head-up display, back-up camera, sideview system, high-beam assistant and adaptive headlights, including Bending Lights, variable light distribution and adaptive headlight range control. It also runs on big 19 inch wheels.

The new BMW 7er is not a pretty car of course, but unlike its predecessor, it has a secret charm which makes it desirable, and now with this magnificent powerplant it’s got all it needs to take on the mighty Mercedes. Oh, by the way! you have to say it looks very cool in white!

Rendering- 2010 BMW 5 Series

2010 BMW 5 Series

Days after an image that allegedly is the bumper of the 2010-11 BMW 5 Series propped up on BMW Blog, a talented Photoshop artist has constructed an entire BMW around it.

The lines on the next BMW 5 Series will be a lot fainter with the crease on the bonnet scraping the more rounded headlights. Lots of input will be taken from the new BMW 7 Series and the BMW CS concept. The front end design will be influenced by European Pedestrian Safety standards. The brake lights will be ironed out and will appear more like the BMW 3 Series’.

The car will enlarge a few centimeters, but the weight will be kept at the same level as the current BMW 5 Series, which was launched in 2004, and hasn’t seen many modifications since.

Codenamed F10, the 2010 BMW 5 Series will feature engines derived from the turbocharged engine range. The 540i gets the award winning 3.0 Twin Turbo Straight Six with around 305bhp and the 550i gets a 4.4 Twin Turbo V8 and the range is expected to have a turbocharged clean diesel as well.
